Records Bureau
The McFarland Police Department's Records Division consists of one Lead Records Specialist, who is assisted by dispatch in the preparation of court paperwork; report filing; data entry; making copies of reports for the public and insurance companies; collecting and reporting crime statistics to the Department of Justice; and maintaining compliance with the California Public Records Act.

Vehicle Releases
- A vehicle release can be obtained for $100. Only the registered and/or legal owner may obtain a release. Current registration and a valid driver's license are required at the time of release. If your vehicle was impounded due to the driver being unlicensed or having a suspended/revoked license, the vehicle may be impounded for a 30-day period. A post-storage hearing form may be obtained at the Police Department and early vehicle release is subject to department approval. The approval process may take up to 72 hours.
- To obtain a copy of a Traffic Collision Report, you must be an involved party, spouse, or an insurance agent for an involved party. A processing fee of $20 for injury and $6 for non-injury reports will be charged.
Crime Reports
- Crime reports may be obtained by an involved party to the report, an insurance agent if inquiring about a stolen vehicle or property, and an attorney for the victim (with a signed waiver). For further questions regarding crime reports, please contact the Records Division at 661-792-2121. There is a processing fee of $6 for a copy of the report.
Citation Sign-Offs
- Citation sign-offs can be done during business hours. The processing fee for cite sign-off is $10.
